Wear to Where: Bib Necklaces
09.28.11
Women everywhere are sporting Bib Necklaces in ways that accentuate their décolletage as well their own personal style. These unique alternatives to the good-old fashioned necklace can add an interesting dimension to virtually any look and are making yet another comeback as a micro trend for Fall 2011. Whether they were beautiful stones of gold worn by Cleopatra or Multiple Strand Pearls made famous by Coco Chanel, embellishing a woman’s neck has always been a mainstay throughout history.
What I love most about this trend is the price point, or should I say price points? Bib necklaces can work for many different budgets; you can hit up Forever 21 and shop cheap or head over to Saks and break the bank. One designer that you should definitely be on the lookout for is Mishka Piaf; his handmade jewelry is created by taking pieces from antique and vintage sources collected from around the world. These pieces are anything but understated; big bold stones, Swarovski Crystals, fur clips, vintage brooches and layered chains typically take up the majority of your neckline which creates quite a statement. You can find Mishka’s pieces at the best boutiques in Orange County including Westerly in Corona Del Mar or by visiting his website at Mishka-Piaf.com.
Styling Tips... For a night out on the town or a special event wear a glamorous gem encrusted one with a strapless dress or head to lunch wearing a beaded one with a silk button up blouse and cropped pants. I love wearing mine with a white v-neck t-shirt and a pair of jeans for a classic yet casual look. Keep your outfit simple, the main focus of the look should be the bib necklace alone.
